Motorhoming in the Rhône Alpes
Motorhoming in the Rhône Alpes
Situated in the south east of France, the region of Rhône Alpes has no less than eight departments: Ain, Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Loire, Rhône, Savoie and the Haute Savoie. This number of departments is a good indicator of the diversity one can find in the Rhône Alpes.
The Rhône Alpes boast the highest and most frequented mountains, national parks, mountain lakes, and the rivers Rhône and Loire, all of which makes for interesting cultural and commercial exchanges. Economically powerful, the Rhône Alpes are also rich in history and you will find plenty of interest while you’re motorhoming in Ardèche or motorhoming in Savoie. Whether you’re motorhoming in Ain or motorhoming in Isère, you’ll also find plenty of tasty specialities to try.
There is also lots to see in the towns of the region. Lyon is the large regional centre of the Rhône Alpes, and along with cities such as Grenoble, Saint Etienne and Chambery offers lots to visit.
The Haute Savoie is home to the famous resort of Mont Blanc. Motorhome travel in France is the ideal way to make the most of a ski pass which allows you to use the pistes in several resorts. Méribel and Courchevel can be found in the Savoie. These areas are equally beautiful on a hot summer’s day when the quality of the air and the blue of the sky, together with the view, are literally breathtaking.
