Swift Motorhome Clubs
Based on Cottingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Swift came into existence in 1965. Around the mid eighties they launched into the heady world of providing motor homes for the masses. Since that time they have been a stalwart of the industry providing a wide range of brand names and models to leave the enthusiast with a watering mouth and an itchy pocket. The Swift Group now sport such names as Bessacarr, Sprite, Sterling, Auto Cruise and more recently Escape. Just one look at a Kon Tiki and one realises why there is such an amount of Swift Motor Homes Clubs out there. Swift have predominantly concentrated on supplying coach built models and it is probably this above all else that has made them such a popular choice for those seeking a home from home. Not surprising when one considers that Swift cut their teeth on providing bespoke caravans. Coach building skills were already well established when Swift decided to add, of all things, an engine. The rest is history. Swift have partnered with a number of base vehicle manufacturers so the club member who loves nothing better than opening up the bonnet and ‘tweaking’ has got plenty of variety to go at. Rallies are the very life blood of motor home clubs and they abound for makes like Swift. As every good motor homer will know, the fun that can be had by arranging your vans in a circle and having a chat is only ever surpassed by the knowledge that there isn’t a long walk back to the hotel and heck you can do it all over again tomorrow.
