Ariège, Aveyron, Gers, Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées, Lot, Tarn, and Tarn et Garonne are the eight departments which make up the region of the Midi-Pyrénées situated in the south west of France where Ariege and the Hautes-Pyrénées border on Spain. Here the natural wilderness is combined with a rich historical heritage and the art of good living. Midi-Pyrénées is home to Toulouse, its biggest town, well known for its quality of living. The Valleys of the Tarn invite you to wander, tranquillity assured. The mountains, from Aubrac in the north to the Pyrénées in the south, are a breathtaking wilderness to explore. The path of Saint Jacques de Compostelle is a very popular pilgrimage undertaken by a great number of French people every year. You will be able to follow the route through the spectacular countryside of the Midi-Pyrénées.
