Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur in the south east of France is commonly known as PACA and is the area which is often referred to simply as Provence. The three departments Hautes Alpes, Alpes de Haut Provence and the Alpes Maritime border Italy to the east, the Alpes Maritime, Var and the Bouches du Rhône touch the Mediterranean coast, and the sixth department, Vaucluse is inland.
