Motorhoming in Lorraine
Described as ‘welcoming’, Lorraine is a region of great tradition which has been modelled by the great historical events that it has witnessed. Made up of four departments, Meurthe et Moselle, Moselle, Meuse and Vosges, it has three natural regional parks and a territory covered by rivers, lakes and ponds as well as kilometers of navigable canals.
Motorhome travel in France is the ideal opportunity to explore regions such as Lorraine and whether you decide on hiring a motorhome in England or hiring a motorhome in France, you can use the free Aires de Service when you are on your travels. Take a leisurely lunch French style and sample the real Quiche Lorraine.
Meurthe et Moselle, a department of strange proportions, rather long and thin at the heart of Lorraine, is host to the city of Nancy, a veritable Pandora’s box of artistic richness and magnificent architecture such as the Place Stanislas and is home to the world renowned Baccarat crystal.
Meuse hosted the tragic battle named after the town of Verdun and also played a part in the life of Joan of Arc. The Maginot Line is one of the fortified sites which you can visit in Moselle as well as, on a lighter note, the beautiful city of Metz with its architectural treasures such as its Gothic cathedral, or the enchanting Château of Malbrouck.
Finally Vosges in the south of the region proposes escaping in the Ballons des Vosges Park where the valleys and mountains, lakes and enormous forests lend themselves to lots of different outdoor activities including sk-ing when the winter snows arrive.
You’re right on the doorstep so go motorhoming in Alsace, motorhoming in Franche Comté or motorhoming in Champagne Ardenne.
