Motorhoming in Centre
Centre, as the name suggests is more or less in the middle of France but is in the northern half of the country. The region consists of six departments: Indre; Indre et Loire; Loir et Cher; Cher; Eure et Loir and Loiret. It has one of the richest histories and has conserved an incredibly diverse heritage and culture which it has extracted from each period of its history. The region is separated into three territories, Eure et Loire, Val de Loire and the Bercy and possesses an historical, cultural, religious and gastronomic heritage without comparison. On the banks of the river Loire, the châteaux of Amboise, Chambord and Chenonceau to mention just three, reflect the flamboyance and splendour of the Renaissance kings of France. The main towns of the region also offer their own heritage such as the cathedrals of Orléans and Chartres which are amongst the most beautiful examples of Gothic works of art.
Centre is also known as ‘the garden of France’ and the Loire forges its passage, at times rather wild, through this countryside which invites you to explore its well preserved nature. Motorhome travel in France is an ideal means of seeing the region and by visiting the Aires de Service in Centre you will easily find somewhere to stop along the way.
If you’re considering a visit, you could think about hiring a motorhome in England or even hiring a motorhome in France. There’s no better way to take in all the sights at your own pace. While you’re in Centre you can taste a few of the regional wines, such as Chignon, Bourgueil or Sancerre, within moderation of course! From centre it’s easy to go motorhoming in lots of other departments. It is surrounded by no less than eight other regions. Try motorhoming in Haute-Normandie, motorhoming in Basse-Normandie, motorhoming in Poitou-Charentes, motorhoming in the Limousin or even motorhoming in Ile de France.
